“There is nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and bleed.” -Ernest Hemingway

“I’m writing an unauthorized autobiography.” -Steven Wright

You’re already a brilliant storyteller. How do you know? You tell yourself your life story every day. But what happens when you realize your old story doesn’t fit any more? In this workshop, you will learn to infuse even your most agonizing stories with humor, to transform pain into laughter, hardships into blessings, and mistakes into gifts.

Working with Alicia will guide you to rewrite your personal narrative, with lightness and perspective, bringing healing, transformation, and freedom from suffering. As you re-write the past, you change the future, and live in the present.

Using guided meditation, laughter yoga, improvisation, and writing exercises, you will uncover the truths that are begging to be broadcast and learn how to divulge them with juicy authenticity. In this workshop, you will sweat, toil, and torture yourself to make the words come out. JUST KIDDING!

It’s time for life to be fun, and writing to flow easily! Veteran comedian and solo performer Alicia Dattner creates a sacred space where every story is welcome, from gritty to graceful, from righteous to risqué. And where what really matters is just to show with who you are.

“Talent is helpful in writing, but guts are absolutely necessary.” -Jessamyn West

If you are interested in writing memoir, solo performance, standup comedy, and autobiographical limerick. Again, just kidding about the limerick. Unless you really want to write limerick.

“Life is a Grand Cosmic Joke. Pain exists for us to take ourselves less seriously, to laugh, and to experience the joy and wonder of an infinitely perfect universe.” -Alicia
